Japan is located at the intersection of multiple seismic zones, and frequent earthquakes have occurred near the outer islands of Kagoshima recently.
But not many tourists know what they should do if an earthquake hits.
Some said they would just follow the crowd or take shelter in open spaces.
At Tokyo's Senso-ji Temple, the venue's staff said they will lead tourists to a plaza just behind the temple to wait until the quake passes.
They also said the temple conducts joint drills with police, fire departments and local businesses every March to simulate evacuation plans for major earthquakes.
This public park by the Tokyo Bay looks normal enough.
But in earthquake times, a lot of the facilities can be turned into temporary shelters.
Apart from useful hardware, the population is well trained to deal with emergencies, with schoolchildren going through drills several times each year.
