Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said trade talks with the U.S. have resumed after Canada rescinded its plan to tax U.S. technology firms.
U.S. President Donald Trump had earlier described the digital services tax plan targeting U.S. tech firms as "a direct and blatant attack on our country."
Speaking on Fox News Channel's Sunday Morning Futures, Trump said he is not planning to extend a 90-day pause on tariffs on most nations. He said his administration will notify each nation that the tariffs are taking effect.
"We'll look at how a country treats us -- are they good, are they not so good? Some countries, we don't care, we'll, you know, we'll just send a high number out. But we're going to be sending letters out starting pretty soon. No, we don't have to have meet. We understand. We have all the numbers. Listen, what we're gonna do is we're going to send and we will say, congratulations, we're allowing you to shop in the United States of America. You're going to pay a 25 percent tariff or a 35 percent or a 50 percent or 10 percent."
