e-Channel use extends to qualified mainland passport holders starting tomorrow

The Immigration Department announced that starting tomorrow, the e-Channel service will be extended to qualified individuals holding a mainland passport.
Such individuals must be at least 11 years old, hold a valid mainland electronic ordinary passport, and in transit via the city or from another destination.
Qualified individuals do not need prior registration to use the service, which uses facial recognition technology.
However, the e-Channel service does not apply to mainland passport holders with an "Entry Permit for Hong Kong" obtained from foreign Chinese consulates.
