22 killed in suicide bomb attack on Damascus church in Syria

At least 22 people have been killed and 63 others wounded in a suicide bomb attack in a Greek Orthodox church in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Sunday evening.
State media reported a gunman opened fire during a packed service at the Mar Elias Church in the Dweil'a neighbourhood, before detonating himself using an explosive vest.
Authorities said emergency teams were working to transfer the bodies of congregants to hospitals and secure the area.
No group immediately claimed responsibility, but Syria's ministry of interior affairs told media the attack was carried out by an individual affiliated with the jihadist group Islamic State.
The church bombing was the first in Damascus since Bashar al-Assad was overthrown by Islamist-led rebels in Syria.
