Located in Golmud City, Qinghai Province, with a total area of 5,856 square kilometers, Qarhan Playa or Salt Plain is the largest salt flat in China and the second largest in the world.
"Qarhan" means "world of salt" in Mongolian, and is rich in mineral resources such as potassium, magnesium and sodium.
