The Indian government said a panel investigating Thursday's Air India crash in Ahmedabad will issue a report in three months.

The country's Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said that alongside a formal investigation, the government has formed a high-level, multi-disciplinary committee to examine the causes leading to the crash.

The London-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner hit a medical college hostel soon after taking off, killing 241 people on board and at least 29 on the ground. One passenger survived.

Search and recovery operations are continuing with more bodies found at the crash site.

With many bodies unrecognisable, investigators say it could take up to 72 hours to complete DNA matching.

Officials say at least 11 victims have so far been identified through DNA testing.
