More than 130,000 residents have participated in the government's chronic disease co-care pilot scheme so far, with 30,000 of them having been confirmed to have contracted chronic illnesses.

Authorities are planning to expand the programme to include treatment for diseases such as hepatitis B.

The three-year-long pilot scheme was rolled out in November last year.

It aims to provide screening services and medical treatments for individuals aged 45 years or above.

As of the end of last month, some 75,000 people had completed their screenings.

Among them, 31,000 were found to have suffered from high blood sugar, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Currently, more than 640 private doctors have joined the programme.

Treatment prices range from 150 to 800 dollars.
