17-year-old teen arrested on suspicion of throwing corrosive fluid on woman

Police arrested a 17-year-old teenager with triad background who was suspected of throwing a corrosive liquid on a woman in Wan Chai on Monday. During the operation, drain cleaning liquid containers were seized.
The incident unfolded on Monday. A 35-year-old mainland woman was doused with some corrosive fluid on Johnston Road in Wan Chai. She was later sent to hospital for treatment.
Police looked through surveillance footage to identify the suspect, and arrested a teenager in Yuen Long in the early hours of Wednesday for the offence of throwing corrosive fluid with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police are still investigating the motive for the attack.
