Israeli naval forces boarded and seized a Gaza-bound aid boat and detained Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and others, who tried to break a blockade of the Palestinian territory.

The boat arrived at an Israeli port on Monday and Thunberg was put on a plane to France earlier today.

Tracey Furniss has more.

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, alongside 12 other activists aboard the British-flagged yacht, Madleen, run by pro-Palestinian Freedom Flotilla Coalition, tried to break the Israeli naval blockade and deliver aid to Gaza.

They were intercepted in international waters 200 kilometres from their destination.

Can you see us? Can you hear us? We are being boarded right now, we are being intercepted right now.

Israel's Foreign Ministry portrayed the voyage as a public relations stunt, saying on X that the "selfie yacht" of the "celebrities" was making its way to the shores of Israel.

Thunberg had pre-recorded a video in the event she would be captured.

GRETA THUNBERG, Swedish Activist: "I urge all my friends, family and comrades to put pressure on the Swedish government to release me and the others as soon as possible."

But before her friends could pick up a phone, the Israeli Foreign Ministry posted photos on X of Thunberg being deported, heading back to Sweden via France.

U.S. President Donald Trump, when asked about Thunberg, suggested she take an anger management class.

DONALD TRUMP, U.S. President: "Well, she's a strange person. She's a young, angry person. I don't know if it's real anger. It's hard to believe, actually, but I saw what happened. She's certainly different. Anger management. I think she has to go to an anger management class. That's my primary recommendation for her."
