President Xi Jinping has called for the lifting of the strategic cooperative partnership between China and South Korea to a higher level with an emphasis on promoting regional peace.
During a phone conversation with newly-elected South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, Xi called for jointly upholding multilaterialism and free trade to ensure the stability and smooth functioning of industrial and supply chains.
He said a healthy, stable and continuously deepening China-South Korea relationship aligns with the trend of the times and contributes to regional and global peace.
Recounting their close economic, trade and cultural links, Lee said South Korea is ready to work with China to push forward their good-neighbourly and friendly relations.
Both leaders also vowed to promote peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.
It is reported that Lee invited Xi to visit South Korea in November and attend the APEC summit to be held in the city of Gyeongju.
