Local pianist Aristo Sham wins Van Cliburn International Piano Competition

Hong Kong pianist Aristo Sham Ching-tao won the 2025 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
He was congratulated by Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law.
Twnety-nine-year-old Sham is the first Hong Kong pianist to win the prestigious competition, which is held once every four years in Texas, USA.
Sham received a cash award of 100,000 U.S. dollars after beating 29 other competitors.
The prodigy began learning piano when he was three years old and started composing at six.
He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in economics and earned a master's degree at the New England Conservatory of Music.
