Chief Executive John Lee has offered his congratulations to Hong Kong's first female astronaut, payload specialist Lai Ka-ying.
He wished Lai Ka-ying and Shenzhou-23 a successful mission.
Lee released a video congratulating Lai Ka-ying on becoming a member of the Shenzhou-23 flight crew.
Lee said: “I sincerely thank the nation for its trust in Hong Kong and for its recognition and support of Hong Kong's innovation and technology personnel. I also congratulate Dr. Lai Ka-ying on proudly representing the Hong Kong SAR in the national space mission, soaring and exploring in space.
The vast starry sky, the pursuit of dreams on a long voyage—we are all honoured and incredibly excited that Hong Kong experts were able to participate in the national space mission. I wish the Shenzhou-23 mission a complete success, continuing to write a glorious chapter in China's space program."
