Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said she will convene a special parliamentary session next Wednesday to pick the next prime minister following the ruling coalition's resounding election victory.
Local media believed Takaichi is on track to win in the designation election.
Takaichi said she intends to accelerate the implemenation of her campaign promises, adding the session will be called to push through budget related bills, including the next year's budget, to fund economic measures and sluggish wages.
The Japanese constitution stipulates an extraordinary Diet session must be held within 30 days after the general election.
