A step forward for healthcare in the Greater Bay Area today.
Governments from Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Shenzhen teamed up for the first-ever northbound ambulance drill.
This tested how patients can be moved directly from Hong Kong to the mainland for treatment.
During the drill, a Shenzhen ambulance travelled to Queen Elizabeth Hospital to pick up a patient, and then transferred the patient back to the University of Hong Kong - Shenzhen Hospital via Shenzhen Bay Port.
The authorities said the process was smooth.
Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau revealed the official implementation of the two-way transfer of the direct cross-boundary ambulance transfer within the first quarter of this year.
