The Observatory issued the Amber rainstorm warning for more than an hour this morning.
Weather authorities say that a broad trough of low pressure is bringing showers and thunderstorms to the coast of Guangdong.
Some areas recorded more than 20 millimetres of rainfall, whereas the precipitation exceeded 40 millimetres in parts of Sai Kung and the northern part of the New Territories.
