HK tourist assaulted in Hokkaido

A Hong Kong tourist has been assaulted in Sapporo, Hokkaido in northern Japan.

According to the Chinese Consulate-General in Sapporo, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at a restaurant, where the visitor was struck on the head with a beer bottle.

Japanese police arrested a local suspect at the scene.

The consulate has urged local authorities to pursue the case and ensure the safety of Chinese citizens.

It advised Chinese nationals to remain vigilant in Japan.
