US President Donald Trump to visit China in first week of April

Media reports say US President Donald Trump is set to visit Beijing in the first week of April.

Trump brought about his planned China trip again during an interview with NBC, saying President Xi Jinping would also pay a reciprocal visit to the United States towards the end of this year.

Sources say the exact dates are yet to be determined and the two leaders may touch upon Taiwan in the talks.

Officials from both sides discussed preparations for the next high-level meeting between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng.

Bessent said they expect to continue constructive engagement and maintain a positive forward momentum in the next few weeks, in a bid to lay the groundwork for Trump's visit to China.
